Mediterranean Revival
PROJECT BRIEFThis whole-home renovation transformed a dated, Tuscan-style residence into a fresh interpretation of Mediterranean design, preserving the warmth and character of the architecture while giving the home a lighter, more refined point of view.
Throughout the interior, we reworked both the layout and architectural details to create better flow, function, and balance for a young family. Heavy finishes and ornate ironwork were removed in favor of warm natural materials, softly plastered walls, custom millwork, and graceful arches that repeat throughout the home. The kitchen was completely reoriented, allowing us to create a more functional workspace, a generous island, and a built-in banquette that adds both charm and much-needed storage. An adjoining butler’s pantry was redesigned to discreetly house everyday appliances while still feeling like an extension of the kitchen.
The bathrooms became opportunities to introduce more personality. A single shared Jack-and-Jill bath was transformed into two individual bathrooms tailored to each child, while the primary suite was reconfigured to create an airy wet room in place of the original dark, enclosed shower.
Outside, the transformation was equally extensive. The existing pool was removed and relocated, allowing us to rethink the entire yard around entertaining and family life. A new cabana, pool bath, outdoor kitchen, and gathering spaces replaced an isolated barbecue area, creating a true extension of the home.
Layered furnishings, textiles, art, and collected details complete the renovation, resulting in a home that feels established rather than newly remodeled: relaxed, timeless, and distinctly Mediterranean, with a modern California sensibility.
